Build a List and Earn Money FAST

TB- BW
This is an update of my instructions for building a list and earning money while you’re away (on holiday / over Christmas, etc.). The first instructions were posted here.
In the following explanation, the tools you need are indicated with asterixes either side. Clicking on them will take you to my tools page, for a list of the recommended ones I use myself.
To make your squeeze page work for you, you need to do the following:
1. Choose what product you’re going to sell after signup. You can either select one of mine at http://list-jv.com/signup.php (create an account if you don’t have one), or pick a One-Time-Offer at http://www.nulltochance.com/otogold
Copy your affiliate link (if you’re using one of my products), or the link generated for you at OTOGold, if you’re using this service, and paste it into notepad. You’re going to need this later.
2. Go to your *autoresponder*, or if you don’t have one, open an account at aweber.
Once you’ve named and set up the list you’re going to build, go to the Web Form Generator (under the ‘leads’ tab in Aweber) and create the web form you’ll use for collecting your signups. If you’re using aweber, you can leave the html pane blank. just make sure the email and name fields are checked for ‘required’
3. Paste your One-Time-Offer code into the “Thank You Page” text box. Then go to list settings and paste it into your “confirmation success page” too.
4. Now, keep your autoresponder open, and open an *ftp* session with your website. You can set up a *web hosting account* with a new domain at HostGator using my coupon code “hgc25″ for $9 off or your first month free, if you like - or use one of your existing ones, if you have one.
5. You’re going to upload 2 files for this exercise: the squeezepage and your branded pdf file.
You can put them anywhere, but just make sure you keep a note of the URL, you’ll need it later. If you’re using Hostgator, remember to put the files under the public_html folder (and create subfolders here too for anything you want made available on the web). If you place the squeezepage in your public_html then the http address would be: http://www.yourdomain.com/squeeze.html However, if you rename sqeeze.html to index.html, then the address will be: http://www.yourdomain.com (index.html is the default webpage in any web location).
6. Make a note of the web addresses of both files in notepad so you can copy and paste them into your communications later.
7. Go to the messages section and enter a new message (to be sent on day 0). Let it say something like this:
Dear [firstname]
Congratulations on getting a free copy of “20 Secrets to High Profit Lists”. You can download your copy now, from here:
[Insert the http location of your PDF file here]
Right-click on the link and choose “save as” to save a copy to your computer.
I’m sure you’ll find these secrets useful in building a large quality list of responsive prospects and customers.
To YOUR success
[Your Name]
PS: To really put your list-building into overdrive, make sure you signup at The Freedom List
and List Mission
[replace these links with your affiliate links at both sites]
Hint: You can come back later and add further messages promoting other products on days 2, 3, 4 etc… then leave it on autopilot.
8. Return to the Form Generation Section, Save the form and copy the html code it generates into your clipboard.
9. Open your chosen squeeze page in your *web-page editing program*. Go to HTML view and scroll down to the section where it says:
=====Signup Form Start ========
YOUR SIGNUP FORM HERE
====Signup Form End=========
10. Delete the line:
YOUR SIGNUP FORM HERE
And in its place, paste your signup form html code.
11. Save the squeeze page and upload it to your server. (Make sure you have a note of its http location)
12. Use the location of the squeeze page in as many promotions as you can. For ideas on how to promote your page effectively see Bob Jenkins Free Ad Report and Harris Felman’s Traffic Videos. Plus - whatever else you do, be sure to join this forum and advertise it, or make a post there:
Thats it! - now, all the people who come to your squeeze page and sign up for a free copy of 20 Secrets will be added to YOUR list. On signup, they’ll be taken to your One Time Offer, and if they buy that, you’ll earn 50% commission…
Set up as many squeeze pages as you like and promote them well. That way you’ll accumulate a huge list quickly AND earn money on the backend. All with little or no investment.
With Best Wishes for Christmas, and good luck with all you’re doing.

    Tim,

    Great Stuff!!

It took me nearly six months of frustrating trial and error to accomplish what you just laid out in a few short paragraphs.

I truly appreciate the clear and concise instructions.

    Thanks again

    Hi Tim

Thanks for your great offer. I hope not everyone on the Internet is using it!!!! I’ll certainly work through it and most likely give it try.

Hope you’re not too despondent about the cricket but it’s only a game.

    Have a Happy Xmas.

    Tim,

Again, I can not thank you enough for sharing your background, and your companies beginning. Using the above plan will shorten the process and can play out anytime of the year. As you can see I have a domain, and hosting setup on a fairly reasonable service. I won’t do my JV thing here. I have a product that I was given full rights to, and am currently working on that to allow me to feel I have earned the right to call it my own product.

Once that is done I hope to also through up some smaller works to do some testing. This is about where I am. So working through some of the things you laid out will allow me to move forward a little sooner.

    Thanks for your help!

I love my Freedom List except there is a real problem with were you have it hosted, It’s down again today which could be the 4th time in has many months, speaking for myself and those that can’t afford to waist money on ezine ads, this down time is costly and I for one would like to suggest Hostgator or any number of hosting companys that pride themself on there up time. Just a thought from a Freedom list to the end kind of person, no matter what you decide.
